3 Success Principles to a Healthy Reflection Process
Successful women are women of reflection. Reflection is a very important process. It is a process that allows women to engage themselves more deeply with their personal and daily experiences. It provides an opportunity to either rework or reinvent life challenges. In thinking about this posting, I had been reflecting on some conversations that I had with some women. Being the woman that I am, I listen very well to a person’s conversation. What a person says gives you a lot of information about their mind set. It provides for me what I like to call ‘character messages.’ A woman’s conversation will deliver the secret places of the heart. I
In furthering my process of reflection , I start to think not more about the challenge I was having with what the person had said, but my response to what was being said. I mean how will I react to what I believe was unsettling? What did I believe I should learn from this as it relates to my character? I am finding that most of the life challenges that I encounter in relationships is more about my personal development as a woman of faith then it is the situation itself. So today I wanted to offer some principles of reflection that I believe will help you dissect your life daily so that you can become a better you.
Principle # 1
Make your reflection time apart of your daily activities. At the end of your day, I find helpful to journal a bit about what may be bothering me. Allow yourself to go through those initial emotions.
Principle # 2
After you have experienced those emotions, talk about what you are feeling with someone close to you. A woman who is a woman of wisdom. Not someone who will side with your feelings because they love you but that they will help you see the challenge from a more rational and real perspective.
Principle # 3
Make some type of resolve about the situation. Make a decision about how you are going to respond to what has happened. For me I tend to take negative situations and use them as fuel to create opportunities for growth in my life. I am honest with what happened and say ok this is what I have learned and then I simply move on.
These three principles is a great place to start in your very own reflection process. You may not go at it the same way that I do, but the idea is that you begin to create an environment where you can reflect and taking the time to do it will show long lasting results in your success journey.
