Why it is you do what you do?
I had a conversation with handsome young man (my husband) about the writer’s marathon challenge for women group that I created. In so much excitement I begin to tell him how I was bringing together first time authors, women with a dream, to coach them to finally make their dream of writing a book come true. He begin to get excited too and then he landed this question, How much does it cost to be apart of the group? I said what do you mean, He said what are you charging the women to participate? He then said, I mean at the end of the challenge if they follow your lead they will have a product that may very well catapult their business or ministry to the next level. I waited for a moment.
Well yes, it would have been of great benefit to me to charge these women for these services, it would have probably made it possible for me to invest in some other opportunities that I have been planning for my own business. But then there was a question that so loudly popped into my head this morning, why do you do what you do? Why do you enjoy so much empowering women to be all that they can be? Why have you made it your business to touch the lives of women? These questions should be questions that every woman should ask themselves. It is important because it will help define if what you are doing is your truest passion and your true purpose for living. Whatever it is that you do, would you do it for FREE? If not, you may want reevaluate your business and or ministry motives.
I do it because it is who I am. I am a woman. I love serving the needs of women. I like it when a woman has her Aha moment about purpose. I can relate to women because I too have a dream. And I just don’t see the fun in me making it to my destination without other women experiencing the same blessings of empowerment to reach their dreams. I believe every woman that is educated and if you are a woman of faith, spiritually mature should grasp and understand the following principles. These are some things that you can begin to investigate, research, soul search, pray and fast, what ever is needed so that you are solid about who you are. This how we can begin to develop Your Personal Brand!
#1 Know your heritage
Where do you come from, what are your family values that you still hold to and believe? Do you still believe those things?
#2 Know your identity
If you can reveal your identity to someone in one sentence, what would that be?
#3 Know your destiny
What is your ultimate destination? When you are finished with your strategic plan and all the hard work where do you see yourself?
#4 Know your purpose
Why is that you do what you do? Your purpose is the energy element that keeps you going and keeps you focused on the plan.
#5 Know your vision
Can you actually see your end in your mind? Can you visualize it? What does your vision of your life look like? You should be able to interpret it with clarity and passion.
Each of these are steps to help every women get closer to their dream. Dreams are not something we just carelessly think about. These are deep seeded passions that I believe God has placed in our heart. The real challenge is taking the time out to find out what that is.

Great post!
You have the true nature of a coach. We work behind the scene to make others successful and when we’re comfortable and called we enjoy it so thoroughly that we can forget to charge.
Just as long as we don’t forget to often..it might make The Husband a little angry, LOL!
I believe what you make happen for others you make happen for yourself. Thank you so much for the great comment!
