Precious Living: 3 life coaching steps to living the life you are supposed to be living
Last night, I had the opportunity to view one of the late night tv shows. It’s a new one but the host is not a stranger to us. Yes, I was watching the Mo’ nique Show. This show was interesting as she interviewed her colleagues for a movie she took part in called, ‘Precious.’ If you have not seen this movie be sure you are well ready for it mentally because of it’s content it will shake the soul of your being. The movie tells the story of the suffering and overcoming of a young woman abused by the people she trusted, (her parents) and then shows how even in the worst of times she still had something inside her to continue to move forward. The character, the young woman who played Precious, Gabby Sidibe, has a personality that was totally opposite her character. She is a very well educated psyche major. But it wasn’t her accolades that drew me to her. But her spirit. She said that two weeks before she audtioned for the part, she had asked God to allow her to start living the life she was supposed to be living. That statement in it of itself cause me to immediately begin to reflect on my own life.
There are times that I believe that every woman should take the time to sit and meditate about who she believes she really is. We have found ourselves living the life that we were steered to live by our parents, we have lived the lives we lived through our obligations to our families, and some of us are still just living. We are living our lives with no aim, no focus and no agenda. Reflecting on your life experiences should be something that we do more often to give us that shot of reality to either keep us on course with what we believe God has called us to do(Our purpose) or to bring us to a place where we are living the life that we are supposed to be living.
Today, I wanted to share some practical things you can do to help seek out your purpose of living:
#1 Develop a personal mission statement
Developing your own personal mission statement will help you to convey your core values and beliefs. It will help you communicate your message to others.
#2 Identify Past Achievements
Identify five personal successes you have had. These successes could be work you’ve done in your community, or in past vocations that you have held.
#3 Identify Core Values
Identify a list of values that state who you are and what your priorities are.
Again, your personal mission statement is of course, “PERSONAL” It should be unique and customized for you. This exercise will help you also identify what is important to you and begin to motivate you to achieve it. It will help you to start living the life you are supposed to be living!

I found this really helpful in focusing where I want to be. I guess the next steps would be to set some goals, make a plan and take action. Thanks so much – your post was very timely for me.
Nadine

Are you a certified coach? Are you certified in a particular area?
Thank you Angela! That is my purpose. To empower, inspire and educate women to be all that they can be. My story and my message is simple. I want to take my ministry background(I am a licensed minister) and my business background(I hold a MBA) and put them together to produce a platform where I can help women redefine themselves in every area of their lives. No, I am not certified coach just a woman with many LIFE experiences that I believe if I share my story of overcoming these challenges it will impact the lives of other women.
