Lets Get It Started! 3 keys to stop putting your dream off
There are so many coaching sessions where I have found great women who have great aspirations, great goals and great visions for their lives but have no intention of actually following through. They spend a lot of time talking about their heart desires but with no plan or process in place to carry it out, so I have to break the news to them that it will never happen. I also have to question if the thing, the business, the ministry, the lifestyles that they are desiring is something that they really, really want. I mean if you want to start a business is it too much to think that you would actually spend time reading up on the industry? Getting starting has been the dream killer for most women I know.
Statistics suggest that 95% of us are prone to procrastinate and 20% are prone to being chronic offenders. What is interesting to me is that most of the time the reason we put off things is because we deemed unimportant. But not in the case of aspiring entrepreneurs, we put off things that we are truly passionate about. I have a couple of coaching techniques that may help a few of us who still can not seem to get things started.
#1 Stop waiting for a perfect time to start something new!
The issue I have found with most procrastinators is that they also have the perfectionist syndrome. If things, such as timing, resources or support are not readily available we will not start or projects. Most of the time they continue to use this as a crutch of why they will not begin to work on their project. Be creative, some of the most lucrative businesses have started with the smallest means.
#2 Get a calendar and schedule your, “Me Time.”
Reenergize your dream by scheduling your time to journal and plan. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is just schedule some time and keep your appointment.
#3 Start talking about your dream with your closest friends.
This recommendation I think you should take with a strictest of caution. Gather your friends and family who you know support you, not those who pretend to support you to share with them about your new project and allow them to give you constructive feedback and you may even find that will begin to celebrate your new venture. Not to mention it will formulate an accountability team for your vision.
So many times we find ourselves full of ideas with no energy to move beyond the idea into a place of implementation. Most of the energy is drained because of our inability to focus on what can be done with what we have. Procrastination is detrimental to any dream or vision and starting with the proper mind set will assist you in getting started!
