Stay in Your Lane

As I riding the other day down the highways of Houston I saw a new sign that was posted near my exit. It read, “STAY In Your Lane” Immediately I began to laugh a bit because being a person of quick action I can some time find myself trying to get things done by doing it myself. Those things are things that others should be doing. Those things are things that others not only should be doing but are and were called to do. We as women, I believe have this innate need to take care of things. We are rescuers. When we see that it has not been taken care of we have the tendency to make it happen, we take care of business. But I believe that God was speaking a message to us as women that feel the need to take care of everything that comes there way.

I believe we send a message that we are not trusting God. In ministry and in business our vision can not be completed by us alone. We have to allow others to play their part no matter what our emotions say. We are there to encourage those that God has placed in the scope of our vision to complete their assignments, allowing them to flourish in their gifts. If God said it shall come to pass. We just need to do what God has called us to do. We must do our individual parts. Everyone has a process that they must endure and when we try to stop them from going through that, we hinder what God is doing in them individually.

A couple of recommendations for women who struggle with “staying in their lane”:

#1 When you feel uncertain the person doing the task is struggling, do not take over.

Work with them to get it done. Ask them if they are okay, is there something they need, a resource, a tool. It could be something simple a missing piece of the puzzle and they just need some collaboration from you to get it done.

#2 Communicate your concerns.

In many situations and even projects we can discern or see the wrong things. Talk with the individual allowing them space to grow and mature in their area.

#3 Be Silent!

Sometimes saying nothing and just being present helps the individual along in their work. A pat on the back, sending a text message opens the door for the individual to communicate or give you a status of their particular task.

God has given each us gifts to produce the fruit he expects us to bear. Trust God and the Gift inside that person. How do I do it? By Staying in My Lane!
